Public/Visitor Parking
If you choose to drive to campus, then you will need to know all about parking on campus. Parking can be broken down into two categories: public and contract.
Top Four Things To Know About PUBLIC PARKING
- Daily lots are the best choice for long periods of time (e.g.: stadium lots on East Bank, Lot 94 on West Bank and State Fairgrounds lot in St. Paul).
- All ramps and garages charge by the hour on a sliding scale.
- Meters are an option for short periods of time. Campus meters accept coins (quarters and dollar coins) and credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover).
- Credit cards are accepted at all parking ramps and garages and a few parking lots (East Bank: Lot 37, Gopher Lot, Maroon Lot, Victory Lot,West Bank: Lot 86, Lot 94, and St. Paul: Lot 101, Lot 104, and Lot 106).
Be aware that credit cards CANNOT be used in these facilities when there are special events. Check our event calendar to see if there is an event on campus.

Disability Parking
DISABILITY PARKING |
Signed disability parking spaces can be found in all public/visitor parking facilities at the posted rate. You may park free at campus meters and signed on-street locations for a maximum of three hours. After three hours, meter patrons must relocate their vehicle a minimum of 600 feet from the original parking space. A state-issued disability permit or license plate is required to use these spaces. To obtain a state disability parking permit, contact your physician. You can also look at information on DMV.org. If you have other disability-related questions or concerns relating to the University of Minnesota, please contact the Disability Resource Center at 612-626-1333. To view a campus map with campus meters (in yellow) and parking lots/ramps/garages with a disability symbol and a number (to specify the parking facility and the number of spaces), please view one of our color campus maps. |
For hospital/clinic guests:
Parking validations by Fairview Hospitals or Clinics are accepted only at the Fairview Parking Ramp on Delaware Street. They are not valid at any University parking facility.
